Sunscreens are making you sicker than before

Applying Sunscreens has become an addiction to many and most simply apply anything and everything that has a “Sunscreen” name tag attached to it.

Now before you apply anything as “Sunscreen”, we urge you to read the following post and gather this little bit of information so that what you learned here could both save you as well as the environment.

The all-powerful superstar, the Sun, sends out two types of Ultraviolet rays, called , the Ultraviolet A[UVA] and Ultraviolet B[UVB]. These rays have both good and bad effects associated with them.

Just as Heat is a form of Energy without which we cannot survive on this Planet Earth, so are UVA and UVB. Just as exposure to too much Heat energy can kill every cell in our bodies so can these rays which can produce Heat energies.

Prolonged exposure to UV can destroy our skin and render permanent health damage.

Moderation is the key word but apparently we are living in days where this word has gone into extinction

The problem arises when people want everything in large amounts and that too all at the same time. Accepted that Winter has just finished and the Sun is smiling in all its glory and you want to bask in the Sun that is now striking the waves at a 17 degree angle.

You venture out to the open to embrace the warmth, you spread your mat, wear your shades and smear yourself with the Sunscreen that you bought last month liberally all over your body and then set your music on and then turn on the Body Relaxing mode center in your brain.

You lie there, until the Sun rise to 85 degree, probably for a couple hours then suddenly you feel the heat deep into your dermis, you want to continue, but your brain says, “only if you would take a dip first”, so you rush out to the coral rich waters, and soak yourself well enough that you could see the beauty of the deep blue sea, 10 feet below.

You return to your mat, wipe yourself dry and then start all over again. The cycle of reapplying the Sunscreen and then turning on the Relaxing mode, lying on the mat and then basking for an hour and then heading for the Ocean, the cycle continues.

What appears to be perfectly harmless to you may not be as harmless to the environmentalist and to the scientific community.

The moment you bring Sunscreen lotion into the equation, the Eco-balance shifts. The dip you took in the Ocean is leaving behind residues that are Toxic both to the Marine life and to the Corals that adorn and contribute to the delicate Eco-marine system that supports us.

It is heartening to learn that,…

Marine ecologists have now found that beach goers like me and you adulterate the ocean with around 7000 metric tons of toxic chemicals. It doesn’t take rocket science to figure out the origin of these chemicals-the Sunscreen lotions and creams.

These toxins have been found to kill the Corals and poison the ecosystem that they thrive on and if this doesn’t change there would be no more Deep Blue Oceans, but only Dark Green Algae fumes.

Now there is other side to this story too. That is the impact that these Sunscreens have on the skin. Agreed that Unprotected exposure to the sun can lead to premature skin aging as well as suppression of the immune system. Sunburned skin looks and feels awful, with some damages being permanent and not reversible, but does not mean we can swim in sunscreens.

But do you know most of the Sunscreens available in the market just target a single type of UV rays, which would be UVB.

The strength of UVB rays penetration is only surface level. This means, prolonged exposure to UVB would only burn the superficial layers of your skin.

But this too can have a health effect on your skin, if exposure is prolonged, but the truth of the matter doesn’t just stop there, it is the Cure which we apply on to our skins thinking that would protect us from the UVB rays is what causing the damage and the detrimental effects.

The chemical compound that is present in UVB blockers is Oxybenzone. Just remember, the body absorbs anything and everything that you apply on to your skin, for the skin is a living organ that breathes and has pores which can transport all the applied content into our blood streams.

Now, research has found that the Oxybenzone which finds its ways to the blood stream apparently does more internal damage than one would expect or estimate.

In men, it brings about ED, which means men in their prime will be seeing problems with their Erection strength. Instead of the penile erection being strong enough to achieve Orgasm and Sexual joy, it would merely be a wave in a teacup.

Oxybenzone will also reduce Semen levels and Semen potency. Oxybenzone has also been found to deplete muscle mass and tissue strength.

In women, Oxybenzone has been found to be associated with Osteoporosis, premature Menopause and accumulation of tissue fat around the belly and face region. Oxybenzone has also been found to interfere with vision and often results in poor brain to eye coordination.

The disheartening fact is that 90% of the US population has high levels of Oxybenzone in their bodies.

Oxybenzone has disastrous effect to marine life too. Many of the smaller ocean creatures that often serve the larger marine life has been found to have high levels of Oxybenzone in their cells.

This means, the life that lives on these creatures will in turn suffer a far severe consequences of the Oxybenzone poisoning.

Added to all these, 90% of the Sunscreens available in the market don’t block UVA, which are more potent in its penetrative powers and can cause more severe damage to the body.

Concluding Remarks and Recommendations

The post just highlights the dangers of using Sunscreens by just drawing the reader’s focus to just one of the major Chemical composition present. On an average there at least 20 different Toxic chemicals that goes into a sun blocker. Imagine the magnitude of damage these chemicals can cause, both to humans and to the Marine life.

We are all living in a time when Natural resources are becoming scarcer and scarcer, every single day and it is our responsibility to use these luxuries by adopting minimalist approach.

As one Researcher thus said, the days of plenty is over, and now prepare for the dawning of frugality.

If we could start this awareness among us, then we could leave all the beauty and the marvel for our Children to enjoy, adding to the proverbial saying, the wise leave inheritance to their children, the foolish devour even the sowing seeds.

Recommendation

We need the energy from the Sun to process and synthesize Vitamin D. Vitamin D, protects our bones and is necessary to carry out innumerable bodily functions. So the take home points.

Just limit Sun Exposure to 20 minutes

The Sun is very potent during 10am-2pm, so use Physical coverings like Umbrella and MAGA hats.

Avoid Sunscreen that you see widely sold and used in the market, we have a post that talks about High grade Eco-Marine-Skin friendly Sunscreen, we shall provide information to you on that.

The promise of a good life tomorrow rests with all of us to perform today’s action responsibly.

Remember, what we sow, we reap, if we sow Toxic Chemicals into the Environment, we reap the same tomorrow.
